"Here is white privilege. You are the default. When people say “I saw someone walk in there,” they mean someone white. White is always default. Everyone else is other-ed. This othering is exclusive. But that’s just the, pardon the pun, vanilla part. As a white person, you can always expect yourself to be represented in TV, movies, books, the news, magazines, and more. As a white person, anything you do will not be pointed out to define your race (at least not seriously or detrimentally). As a white person, there is no racial slur that can truly bring you down. As a white person, you can talk about racism without seeming greedy or self-interested. As a white person, when you set of the alarms when you leave a store, the cashier is likely to wave you along, not reminding you that your race is seen as thieves or mistrustful. As a white person, you get to say “I worked hard to get where I am and didn’t get a leg up because of my race.” As a white person you aren’t singled out as an example of speaking for your entire race. You can do challenging activities without worrying about representing your race. As a white person you have a higher chance of being brought up in a household or situation where you / your family had the privilege of being able to work and save money for yourself."

ME, trying to get my words. Any help here, y’all? (via princessjinx)
